The Bern-based indie pop band NÉMIE brings together musical roots from Argentina, Germany, and Switzerland. Their sound moves between gentle indie pop and acoustic singer-songwriter intimacy, characterized by honest lyrics, warm melodies, and a clear connection to nature that is reflected throughout their songs.
NÉMIE’s music is created through the interplay of voice and acoustic guitar (Chiara Noémie Friedli), piano (Sebastian Knab), cello (Gabriel Vergelin Soler) and percussion (Simon Bacher). Together, they create space for closeness, depth and subtle dynamics, at times quiet and intimate, at times moving enough to make you want to dance barefoot.
Following several single releases, NÉMIE released their debut EP Words Become an Ocean in March 2025. On this record, they weave personal emotions and reflections together with an open view on the world, translating them into nature-inspired imagery. The EP speaks of pausing, breathing deeply and returning focus to what carries and connects us. Songs like “The Current” paint vivid images of sun, sand and sea while conveying a powerful message about nature, community and resilience.
Beyond playing on festival and club stages, NÉMIE can also be found performing in the streets. In autumn 2025, the band travelled for three weeks along the French and Spanish Atlantic coast, playing street concerts in cities such as Bordeaux, San Sebastián and Bilbao.
This journey deeply shaped the band’s artistic identity and reaffirmed their desire to share music in an authentic, approachable way in direct connection and exchange with the people around them.
